GCSE starts in term 2

 

All topics are followed by an end of topic assessment that is focused on celebrating the questions that students answered correctly whilst addressing gaps in knowledge.

At the end of the autumn term in year 9, students sit an end of KS3 exam which is then used to target areas for improvement going into GCSE.

This qualification is linear which means that students will sit all their exams at the end of the course.

Year 10

C3 – Quantitative chemistry

C4 – Chemical changes

C5 – Energy changes

C6 – The rate and extent of chemical changes

C7 – Organic chemistry

C8 – Chemical analysis

C9 – Chemistry of the atmosphere

C10 – Using resources

Revision and Exam

The AQA GCSE specification is summarised below:

Students also have to complete 8 required practicals that may be assessed in detail in the exam.

  • RP4. Temperature changes
  • RP5. Measuring rates
  • RP6. Chromatography
  • RP7. Analysis of unknown substances
  • RP8. Water purification
