Alcester Grammar School is celebrating its best ever A level results, with over 67% of entries graded A*- B. This outstanding figure is even higher (over 75%) for those students who have been at the school for the whole of their secondary education.

Clive Sentance, Principal, says “We’re so proud of our wonderful sixth formers who yet again have achieved excellent results and made so much of their time here. These results are thoroughly deserved - our students have put in a great deal of effort to make the most of their talents and our skilled and dedicated staff team have worked tirelessly to support them. The sixth form team, ably led by Vice-principal Ian Young, have once again shown why AGS is one of the best places to study for A levels.”

This year, 51 students achieved at least three A grades and over a third achieved at least AAB. There are numerous other personal successes across the A level ability range and virtually all students are set for a destination of their choice.

Results at AS level are also very strong. Clive Sentance says “Many commentators have been really concerned about the potential detrimental effect on schools of significant reforms to A and AS levels. But our results show that the AGS ethos, along with hard work and great teaching, means that our sixth form students can be confident that they are getting a superb deal and the best preparation possible.”

This year’s results confirm that AGS remains one of the country’s most vibrant and successful sixth forms. With over 60% of each A level cohort joining  from other schools after GCSEs, the school is renowned for the broad offer of subjects, consistently outstanding teaching and its happy and stimulating environment.
