German

The German course in Key Stage Three builds the foundations for GCSE study. There is a focus on language learning skills and strategies needed to become independent language learners.

There are opportunities to learn about other languages through European Day of Languages celebrations, competitions that run throughout the year and events run by LangSoc.

GCSE German 

GCSE  (outgoing specification, teaching only until summer 2025)

The German course is examined through terminal exams in speaking, listening, reading and writing at the end of Y11. We follow the AQA course for GCSE 9-1.

  • Topic 3 – School subjects, school day and opinions / Attitudes towards school / School rules and changes to make
  • Topic 4 – Free time & eating out (re-visited from year 9 course)

  • Topic 8 – Further education & jobs
  • Topic 9 – Future plans (marriage etc.)
